The Houston Food Bank is a literal life line for thousands of Houstonians during this time of uncertainty and stress. They have many programs targeting key populations across our community. We’ve summarized each program and attached a link to the program qualifications.
Backpack Buddy – this program provides kid-friendly meals to children K-12 and summer program sites.
Community Assistance Program – receive help for applying to state funded social and health services.
Community Kitchen – provides training for living-wage jobs in the food services
Food for Change – distributes food to motivate client participation in the program.
Kids Cafe – serves year round meals to child care, after-school and summer meal program sites.
Nutrition Education – teaches nutrition, food safety, meal preparation and budgeting.
Red Barrels – an easy-to-participate way for shoppers to donate nonperishables.
Portwall Pantry – an onsite pantry for working families and individuals.
School Market – providing food to families and students in middle and high schools.
